"Skull Petal founders Kurt Sutter and Katey Sagal on the restless thread that became a roadwear brand."
Skull Petal
Emission Statement
We didn’t set out to “build a brand.” We just kept following the pull of a restless thread, the one that’s woven through everything we’ve ever done. Katey found it in music, singing, writing songs, before she could even name the feeling it stirred. I found it in storytelling, where I could escape into absurd worlds, live a different life, with a deeper mythology. Both of us found it in recovery, where we learned the potent truth that fuels all of it — the opposite of addiction isn’t abstinence, it’s connection.
That’s what Skull Petal is. Not merchandise. Not nostalgia. It’s a continuation of the thing that made Sons of Anarchy resonate far beyond the outlaw world, the hunger for family, for belonging, for a tribe that claims you. That gets you.
Riders understand that clothing can be sacred. Your cut, your colors, your vest, it isn’t just a casual garment. It’s identity, history, brother and sisterhood. We wanted to build something that honors that weight.
What follows is a conversation. Two people who’ve spent their lives in a business obsessed with results… deciding to build something with no destination, just instinct, intention, and the desire to gather the right people. It’s about the individuals who’ve earned their wheels. The builders, the artisans, the mechanics, and the riders. The ones who shaped the subculture by following their gut, their heart, and maybe a restless thread of their own.
This is where it starts. And the magic for us — we have no fucking idea where it all goes. But we’re down for the ride if you are.
